Betting on this weekends Premier League matches

This weekend sees the return of the Premier League and football betting after the lay-off for the international matches and World Cup qualifiers. Leaders Chelsea will expect to pick up all three points as they entertain Wolves at Stamford Bridge. In fact there could be serious moves at the top with Chelsea already holding a 5pt lead over the defending champions Manchester United.

It is no surprise that Chelsea are a mere 1.15 with the latest football betting odds with bwin betting and they will surely prove too powerful for Mick McCarthy’s boys who can be backed at 15.00. Meanwhile Manchester United entertain an Everton side who are slowly creeping back into form. If Everton do manage to take something off the reds then the gap between them and Chelsea could become significant this weekend.

I have felt for some time that Chelsea would simply be too powerful this season and I can see Manchester United losing games this season that they otherwise wouldn’t have lost last season. They have suffered three away defeats already and some of their results in the Champions League could be described as fortunate.

The latest betting odds United are 1.35 with Everton at 8.50 but do remember that Sunderland went to Old Trafford recently and drew and came within a minute or so of snatching all three points. The games against Sunderland and CSKA Moscow both ended in draws but both featured injury time equalisers. The reds could easily have lost twice at home by November and that has been unheard of in recent seasons.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal travel to Sunderland and who would back against the Gunners making a real charge for the title this year. Sunderland’s betting odds are a surprising 6.20 at home but Arsenal were dealt a huge blow this week with the news that Robin Van Persie will be out for some time. Arsenal can still be backed though at 1.55 with the draw at 3.60.

The big game of the weekend though takes place at Anfield where Liverpool take on Manchester City. Many people are calling this Liverpool’s last chance for the season but in my mind, the title has already gone and with the Champions League now drifting away then their chance of serious silverware this season is seriously diminishing.

Liverpool’s betting odds are 1.95 for the win which I think is slightly low and Manchester City are priced at 3.80 with the draw at 3.25. Mark Hughes boys are getting to the stage where they need a win. They have lost the fewest games of any team in the league but five draws from eleven games rather tells its own story.

Manchester City have to start winning more games and another dip into the transfer window in January looks a certainty. I definitely would not be surprised to see Burnley beat Aston Villa at Turf Moor in what is a battle of the clarets. Burnley away is proving to be a difficult fixture in the Premier League and they have only lost once in six fixtures.

Burnley can be backed at 3.15 with Aston Villa at 2.15, the draw may appeal to a few though at 3.35.
