Starting with Group A, I did actually state that the French side Bordeaux could split the big two of Bayern Munich and Juventus and after three matches with Bordeaux top of the table with 7pts then that is in serious danger of happening. The French side travel to Munich in what is sure to be a make or break night for the Germans. Defeat would surely leave them with too much to do seeing as second placed Juventus are due to play Maccabi Haifa.
The latest football betting odds have Bayern at 1.70 with Bordeaux at 4.60. I feel that the French may play a counter-attacking style against the Germans and could make life difficult and a draw would be a great result for Bordeaux. If Bayern do get the result and Juve win in Israel then Group A could start to get very interesting indeed.
Group B could see Manchester United booking their place in the last 16 once again. They host CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford and have already got maximum points in the group so far. I expect them to win and the price of 1.30 for a home victory is hardly surprising. Although the Russians do have the capability to hurt the reds but 9.50 rather tells its own story.
Besiktas have a great opportunity to get themselves back into this group in what is surely now a three way battle for second place. They host Wolfsburg and a win for the Turks coupled with Manchester United winning could see them leap from bottom of the group into second place. The atmosphere as always will be electric as it always is in the big stadiums in Turkey.
It slightly surprises me that Wolfsburg at slight favourites at odds of 2.45 compared to the 2.65 of the home side. In all fairness I am not certain that Wolfsburg could withstand the cauldron and white hot atmosphere as well as what Manchester United did a few weeks ago.
Group C features two of the biggest names in European football and they go head to head again in the San Siro when Milan take on Real Madrid. The natives are definitely not happy in Madrid after they were beaten at home by Milan 3-2 and then suffered an absolutely humiliating Spanish Cup defeat losing 4-0 to a third division side and having a world class team on the pitch to boot.
Defeat in the San Siro could leave their overall position somewhat precarious seeing as Marseilles are at home to FC Zurich who they should beat.
The odds in this heavyweight clash could not be tighter with both Milan and Real being 2.55 with the draw 3.35. Marseilles are really short odds at 1.25 with the Swiss side at odds of 10.00. This is the stage of the tournament where defeat could be very costly and the price of defeat rises with each passing round.
It would be unthinkable for Real Madrid to miss out on the knockout stages given the money that they have spent but the possibility is real now and back to back losses against AC Milan would push them a little closer to the exit door. However they do have a home banker against FC Zurich still to come so let’s not push them out of the door just yet. Be sure to check out these games with on the bwin live betting service as well.
