The Way I Select Winning Football Bets
Everyone who has ever bet on sports believes they can select winning football bets. I believe that I can spot value and show a profit over time betting on football. You may see my weekly tips on the Premiership football matches and I am currently showing a profit on the seasons football betting. Whilst I choose a Treble bet for the purposes of the betting tips articles, I use other bets each week when betting on football. Here is how I do it.
Successfully betting on football is a combination of knowledge and looking at what the available football betting odds are on the sports betting websites. This helps you work out whether or not there is value in the bets or more accurately, that the teams are offered at good odds for your bet.
In my research into football betting I have read about many sports betting strategies relating to football and here is one which may work for you. It involves betting on three away teams per week from the Premier League, Championship, League one and league two and the Scottish league matches. You are looking for three teams out of all of these leagues that are playing away and have odds of betting than 2.00 to win despite being away. You will see there are not many matches like this as bookmakers usually expect a draw and only when the away team is much better than the opposition are they offered at odds on. The logic behind this system is that when top teams play away from home you get far more generous odds on them winning than you do at home.
For example, Manchester United are playing Birmingham City at Birmingham next week and their odds of winning are 1.60. They would probably be 1.25 or less should the match be staged at Old Trafford. Remember it is the same set of players contesting the match. Bookmakers are forced to offer better odds on away teams because statistics show season after season that teams generally have a worse away record than at once the season is over. But we can select value odds as we know that over the course of the season many matches will be won away for the best football teams. As you are not betting on the same team every week and only betting when they are odds are in your favour you have a good chance to beat the bookie.
Once I have selected my top three teams with odds usually between 1.80 and 2.00 if possible I use a patent bet to place with the bookmaker. The patent bet is betting the three doubles within the three selections and the one treble. If two of the teams win at those odds you get almost all of your stake back by having one winning double, whilst if the three teams win you collect all three doubles and the treble. If one or none of the teams win the stake is lost. There are people who claim to win massive amounts across the season following this sports betting strategy but they usually bet at high stakes and get big returns when they win. I would expect to show a profit if there are not lots of strange results in the season.
Remember to utilise this strategy you need to place four bets. A £10 patent costs £40 for the total bet. If there are not three odds on away teams then there is no bet for that week. This is, however, quite rare as the season progresses and there is often a big gap between the top and bottom teams in each league.
The art of winning football betting comes with careful selections. Look for teams with a great away record playing a side that is struggling for form at home. Look for key players who are injured for the vulnerable home side or key suspensions. If a central defender is injured late in the weeks training or in a midweek match this may be a real chance for an away win for the better team. Nothing is guaranteed but at better odds to win we know that the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are going to win a lot of games away from home. The same goes for lower league sides like Newcastle in the championship or Notts County in League two. They are better than their opposition and hope to win every match whether they play at home or away.
Keep a separate bankroll and try out some strategies like this for your football betting. I have had numerous big wins following this strategy and as the season progresses and the strength of each team is evident from their league position I have often enjoyed much better results in the second half of the season. Remember bankroll management and this can be a nice sports betting income if you get things right.
