Weekend Premiership Match Betting Preview – 3rd – 5th October 2009
The Premiership table is now starting to take place and it looks as though Man City have joined the other top teams in a new mini league at the top of the table. Even with only a small number of games played, it looks as though Manchester Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal will be the top placed teams in the league this season. Tottenham are performing well and we can use these observations to help us search for value in the markets for this weekends fixtures. Using odds from bwin.com, here are my picks for your bets.
Bolton Wanderers 3.60 Draw 3.50 Tottenham 1.85
Spurs have already shown that they are a quality side this season. They have problems at the back with injuries to Woodgate and Dawson, but in Bassong they have made a good signing. They are standing at fourth in the table, with Robbie Keane in rich striking form having scored four in one game last week. I think not only are they great value in this game at 1.85 they are also good value in the handicap market with Bolton getting a 1-0 head start, with Spurs being offered at odds of 3.50. Bolton are currently 13th in the table, unsettled with rumours that the big clubs are chasing star defender Gary Cahill. My prediction is an away win with value in the handicap market also.
Manchester United 1.18 Draw 6.00 Sunderland 11.00
Sunderland will be tested to the full by Manchester United who already look like a team capable of winning the title. Gary Neville is back to form after a huge injury spell and players such as Giggs, Scholes and Rooney are blending nicely with the new crop of young players that perennially emerge from the youth ranks. However, having lost to Burnley early in the season cracks are visible. Those seeking a value bet should consider the draw here at 6.00. Sunderland put five past Wolves but at Old Trafford will have their work cut out. It will probably be a home win but a team on form like Sunderland could spring a surprise.
Sunday: Arsenal 1.18 Draw 6.05 Blackburn 11.00
Cesc Fabregas was simply brilliant this week in Arsenals champions’ league match. He ran the game and Arsenal will be looking for much of the same in their match against Blackburn. Although the odds are correct, I would bet within the accumulators using the handicap odds of 1.58 with Blackburn holding a one goal head start. I would imagine that Arsenal will win this game by more than one goal; such is their firepower at the moment. Home win with some ease.
Chelsea 2.05 Draw 3.25 Liverpool 3.25
This is the big match of the weekend. Chelsea looks good value here after Liverpool suffered a surprise defeat in the champion’s league this week. Both teams are looking to recover from defeats suffered recently and for this match I think it will either be a drawn game or a Chelsea victory. Certainly not a one to miss!
Monday: Aston Villa 2.50 Draw 3.30 Man City 2.50
Manchester City are in the top five, there is no doubt about that. Losing to Manchester United does not make them a bad team and they bounced back winning their last game quite easily. I think they are value at 2.50 against a Villa side who are still relatively inexperienced. My prediction is to back Manchester City at the 2.50 offered and this may decrease as more wagers are placed.
Good luck with your football betting this week.
