Weekend Premiership Football Tips for 30th January to 1st February 2010
Before you place your football bets online take a look at these tips. The Premiership season has taken shape with the title race looking like a three way battle between Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal. Two of these teams face each other this weekend in what could be a pivotal moment of the season. The odds from bwin are tough this week with a variety of heavy favourites and tough to call matches.
Birmingham City 2/1 Draw 11/4 Tottenham 13/10
As always I will snap the away day value up with both hands. Tottenham beat Fulham in their last match. Their away form has been suspect but with Birmingham’s unbeaten run broken by their defeat to Chelsea this may deflate their resolve and belief. New midfielder Craig Gardner is available for Birmingham but I fancy Spurs to win this match. Birmingham’s unbeaten run was a little over expectation for me and they deserve a defeat or two to balance things out. Back the away win at 13/10 in singles bets as I am not sure enough to place it in the weekly treble.
Burnley 9/1 Draw 37/10 Chelsea 3/10
Chelsea are heavily favoured to win this game and I think this is a good price considering how often they would win this match over time, even being away from home. As part of our treble I like Chelsea as one of our bankers. If you like making sports bets on heavy favourites Chelsea should win here.
Sunday – Man City 3/10 Draw 15/4 Portsmouth 9/1
The carnage continues at Portsmouth with Peter Storrie claiming he was frozen out of negotiations to sell defender Younas Kaboul to Tottenham. Striker Quincy Owusu-Abeyie has been drafted in on loan to help stave off relegation. They are unfortunate to have to face a Man City side devastated after the league cup heartbreak they suffered against rivals Man Utd. Expect a backlash here. I like the 3/10 price for the win as our second banker of our treble and also the 17/10 on offer for over 3.5 goals to be scored in the match.
Sunday – Arsenal 7/5 Draw 23/10 Man Utd 7/4
Rooney continues to lead Man Utd with sublime performances. I feel the difference here is the star players like Rooney and Giggs that Man Utd enjoys. Their defence, however, continues to be a worry for them and according to reports young midfielder Anderson may be sold to Lyon this week. This game is a major part of who will challenge Chelsea in the short term. Arsenal will be without defender Thomas Vermaelen for this match but will welcome back Alex Song into midfield. Notwithstanding a piece of Rooney magic I believe this match will be a draw. Pick between a Man Utd win and a draw for this match, I slightly favour the draw at 23/10 and like the correct score odds of a 1-1 draw at 11/2.
Monday – Sunderland 19/20 Draw 23/10 Stoke City 11/4
Manager Steve Bruce blasted Sunderland’s attitude when losing 2-0 to Everton last week. Their 1-0 win against Arsenal that gave fans such hope for the future was their only win in thirteen games. Stoke City are one place above Sunderland in the league but have lost five out of their last six away matches. Their good results against Fulham and Liverpool recently have both come at home. I think Sunderland may defy their recent form and get back to form in this match. They are our “semi-speculative” bet in our treble at 19/20 to win.
We have picked Sunderland at 19/20 to re-discover their league form and Man City and Chelsea at 3/10 to win for us in our treble bet for this week. Betting on the teams above in a £10 treble bet will return you a total of £32.96. That will get us back into profit for the season.
Good luck with whatever football bets you place this weekend.
