Weekend Premiership Football Tips 5th to 7th December 2009
In the week where it was discovered that in excess of £70 million per season is given to football agents and where Portsmouth have failed to pay their players wages for December we move on with the weekly football tips with odds from bwin.com. Football betting has not been made easier by obscure results and some of the better teams underperforming. Despite this, our tips this season so far are still showing a profit. Here are the football betting tips for this weekends matches.
Portsmouth 1.85 Draw 3.50 Burnley 3.90
It has been a turbulent week for Portsmouth where the player’s wages were not paid. This must affect the player’s preparation and morale going into the match as only a proportion of the wages are expected to be paid today (Friday). David James may return after a calf injury turned out to be less serious than was initially feared. Portsmouth are certainly vulnerable at the moment. They have lost their last three games but will see Burnley as a home match where points can be gained. Burnley’s captain Stephen Caldwell is suspended after a red card and they have suffered a bad run of away form conceding lots of goals. Without Caldwell in defence Burnley will be even weaker at the back and I think Portsmouth have a great chance for a home win. My tip is Portsmouth at odds of 1.85.
Manchester City 4.30 Draw 3.45 Chelsea 1.80
Manchester City boss Mark Hughes knows he is in line for the sack unless the record run of seven drawn matches turns into a long run of victories. Chelsea are riding high in the league making it look very easy and are confident both home and away. Having won their last five games without conceding a goal and comfortably beating a top team in Arsenal I believe Chelsea are the tip here at decent odds to pile the pressure onto Mark Hughes. Chelsea to win at 1.80 is my tip for this match.
West Ham United 7.00 Draw 4.00 Man Utd 1.45
Normally I do not tip teams under 1.50 but I will make an exception here. Edwin Van der sar is back for Man Utd in goal for this match further securing their defences. They have won their last two matches very comfortably and crucially West Ham let in three goals against a weak Portsmouth side. Rooney and co should have a comfortable afternoon and I think 1.45 is a lot of away day value here. I would expect Man Utd to win this match 3 to 4 times out of 5 under the current circumstances. If Giggs plays they are in big trouble. My tip is obviously Man Utd to win at odds of 1.45.
Blackburn 4.80 Draw 3.50 Liverpool 1.70
There is more away day value in this match. Liverpool had a good win against Everton and we were very close to winning our very high return treble last weekend (thank you Sunderland). Football betting fans will see the value in backing Liverpool now. The furore surrounding the Liverpool struggles has slowed in the media. They are expected to welcome back Fernando Torres from an injury lay off. Blackburn welcomes back manager Sam Allardyce after heart surgery but will be without influential midfielder David Dunn. This could mean Gerrard dominates the midfield which generally means a Liverpool victory. I tip Liverpool to win this match at odds of 1.70.
My treble bet for this weekend will be Liverpool at 1.70, Man Utd at 1.45 and Chelsea at 1.80. They are all away from home but I believe the league is settled enough and the players sharp enough were they can all win their matches despite this. The bet will return, for a £10 stake, a total of £44.37. If you have followed the football betting tips so far this season you will be enjoying a profit of £62 to the recommended stakes of £10 before this weeks bet is placed.
Enjoy all of your football betting this weekend.
