UK Snooker Championship Second Round Match Betting

The UK Snooker Championship is the second biggest tournament in the Snooker season. The matches are played over a longer format giving the better player more time to hit form and win. The tournament is into its second round and we are able to use form shown in the first round to help us with our Snooker betting selections.

Peter Lines 3.20 versus Mark Williams 1.30

After a couple of barren seasons Mark Williams is showing signs of getting back into the top echelon of the game. Peter Lines is a relatively unknown professional who is 39 years old and has one TV appearance eight years ago to his name. He should be beaten by Williams who despite being slightly younger has far more natural talent and previous experience to draw upon. Peter had a good win over Marco Fu 9-3 but the betting tip for this match must be Mark Williams.

Ronnie O’Sullivan 1.20 versus Peter Ebdon 4.00

An ominous sign for the snooker players was the clinical way Ronnie beat Matthew Stevens in the first round. He looks very good, hence the low odds of a victory here. Ebdon known O’Sullivan well and beat Premier League semi-finalist Judd Trump 9-5 in the first round but whilst solid you would expect if both players are on form O’Sullivan will win this match.

Shaun Murphy 1.65 versus Ding Jun-hui 2.10

Shaun won the Premier league and looks very solid as the World Number 3 behind O’Sullivan and Higgins. Ding won his first round match against Mike Dunn 9-5 and will need to be at his best to beat Murphy. Shaun is a regular participant in semi-finals and finals and the defending champion is on top form. I think the right snooker betting tip is for Murphy to win this match.

Stephen Lee 2.30 versus Ali Carter 1.55

Lee is another player showing glimpses of why he was a top ten player for many years beating Mark Allen 9-8. Carter played well in his first round beating Rory McCloud 9-7. Both were close matches but I would favour Carter to win here who has developed into a top player and is still improving. Lee could certainly spring a surprise here, but over a long match my tip is Carter to win comfortably.

The next four matches are in progress and played to a finish this evening. The current match scores are in brackets.

Liang Wenbo 1.01 versus Mark King 11.00 (7-1 Wenbo)

This match is all but over. Wenbo will close this out probably within four frames. At 1.01 the bookmakers are rightly not interested.

Neil Robertson 3.80 versus John Higgins 1.22 (5-3 Higgins)

The Wizard of Wishaw John Higgins hold a narrow lead over Robertson and the Australian is capable of winning from 5-3 down but John is such a solid match player the bookmakers are giving nothing away. Higgins to close out, but this may be close.

Stephen Hendry 4.50 versus Mark Selby 1.16 (5-3 Selby)

The odds are very low for Selby to close out this match and certainly Stephen Hendry is capable of drawing on his huge experience to pull out the win. It is likely that Selby wins but I would be inclined to say there is a bit of value for a Hendry win at 4.50 and place a small wager on him. I think Selby will win but because of value I would place a small bet on Hendry for the comeback victory. It is certainly not over in this match as the 1.16 odds on Selby would suggest.

Stuart Bingham 7.50 versus Stephen Maguire 1.06 (6-2 Maguire)

This match is all but over. Unless Bingham wins the session 3-1 for a 7-5 score line at the interval it will be over. Maguire will, more often than not, win easily from this point.
