Premiership Football Tips For 24th to 26th October 2009

Once again the weekend is imminent and I am going to give my top football betting tips for the upcoming Premiership matches. All odds are taken from the football betting section of bwin.com

Wolverhampton Wanderers 3.50 Draw 3.35 Aston Villa 2.00

Aston Villa had a great win against Chelsea and after drawing with Man City in their previous match they have taken four points from teams where should they have lost both games we would still have faith they would win this match. They look forward to welcoming back Stuart Downing before Christmas, but even without him are favourites here. Odds of 2.00 look like value against a Wolves side that drew their last game against Everton and lost to Portsmouth and Sunderland prior to that. Look for Villa to heap more misery on Wolves who look like slipping into the relegation battle as predicted at the beginning of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur 1.45 Draw 3.85 Stoke City 7.75

Currently 3rd in the Premiership Tottenham are riding high in the league. Can they challenge for a champions league spot or even the league title? If you think yes then they must be value at 1.45 to overturn a weaker Stoke side currently feeling of the pinch of Premiership competition. After losing to Man Utd and Chelsea they did not let this derail their season and have scored nine times in the last three matches. Although Stoke won their last match and are 9th in the table I still think Spurs have too much for them. 1.45 is a good bet to add into a double or treble bet, but those of little faith should take the 3.85 for the draw. This is a tough match to call because at 9th in the table many would argue the 7.75 is a good bet. But all things considered Spurs are 3rd in the league at home to a side probably over performing despite being 9th. Therefore the sensible bet is the home win.

Liverpool 2.70 Draw 3.20 Manchester United 2.50

The pick of the Sunday matches is the one above, which is always a close game. Unfortunately Liverpool lost midweek in the Champions league and are probably going to be without Gerrard and Torres again. I believe Manchester United will be very likely to win this game; both the draw and Manchester United win odds are definitely value here. I just cannot see Liverpool winning when you compare the respective teams on paper Manchester United have better players. Manchester United to win 2.50 seems the right bet for me. This match definitely falls into the “do not miss it” category of Premiership matches. Half time – Full Time betting of Draw – Manchester United at 5.50 seems a good bet too.

Manchester City 1.45 Draw 4.00 Fulham 7.25

Although I dislike betting at home teams at less than 1.50 I do think that Manchester City are looking so strong these days most bets seem to hold value to me. Fulham are struggling in 12th place in the table so there is a big gap between the teams. I agree with an article I read last week that suggested Manchester City are strong because most of their purchases were already proven Premiership players. Fulham won their last match against Hull and Roy Hodgson revealed he has turned down two job offers from national teams this week. Man City will be determined to return to winning ways after two draws. Robinho may also feature in the side after a recent injury. It is difficult to expect anything other than a home win in this match.

My own personal bet this week will be a double with Manchester United and Manchester City. Betting £10 on the double would return me £36.25 including my stake which is a decent return. Even though the Liverpool match may be close I think that I stand a reasonable chance to collect with this bet. My preferred Treble bet would be Man City, Tottenham and Aston Villa (I would not select the Manchester Utd game so I hedge my bets). This bet (with a £10 stake) would return £29.00 including my stake. Good luck with whatever football betting wagers you make this weekend and enjoy the games.
