Premier League Darts Betting for 18th March 2010
Phil “The Power” Taylor is still top of the 2010 Premier League but he showed last week that he is, in fact, human as a Darts player. Despite being well below his best, he deserves praise for managing a 7-7 draw with rival Mervyn King. Taylor is known for his tweaking of his game despite being well on top of the world game. Sometimes he loses weight (or gains it) and his centre of gravity changes thus causing him throwing problems. It will be interesting to see this week if he returns to the stage in Brighton a renewed force.
Let’s look at each of the four ties in detail, anyone who likes to take part in online sports betting should check out Darts tips every week.
Phil Taylor 4/25 Draw 13/2 Terry Jenkins 19/2
I always think Terry ties his matches and he proved me right by having two ties in a row in the opening two weeks. He lost to 8-5 to Mervyn King and 8-4 to Van Barneveld. Phil, despite a tie against King last week looking well below standard, is still the outright favourite to win at 3/10 and is far from losing his touch! He blasted Barney 8-2 in week four and I expect him to win this match 8-4 or 8-5. As part of accumulators only, take Taylor to win. If you want a special bet, look at bwin.coms offer of 8-4 Taylor at 5/1 and 8-5 Taylor at 9/2.
Raymond Van Barneveld 13/10 Draw 7/2 Mervyn King 13/10
A classic encounter. This match should deliver massively for us in terms of entertainment. Both players are excellent Darts players, whoever is the form player on the night will win. I fancy King to win, but the tip from me for this match is a highly entertaining draw. I believe King has the more fiery desire for victory, but Barney at his best is the epitome of devastating consistency matched and bested only by Phil Taylor. I will go for the draw at 7/2 in a single bet for this match on the basis that it is too difficult to pick a clear winner out of the two players.
Ronnie Baxter 19/10 Draw 7/2 Adrian Lewis 9/10
Baxter drew with Wade last week whilst Adrian got beaten by Whitlock. I think that Ronnie, currently in third place in the league, has over performed so far in the league and will struggle to match the consistency of the other player’s week in week out in this league format. I think the same of Adrian, although he has the potential to be a top player. I also think this match will be a draw so would back that in a single bet just like the match above. Ady in a win bet is fine as well.
Simon Whitlock 17/10 Draw 7/2 James Wade 1/1
James Wade is not a player I would back at the moment. He has made the mistake of fighting back against the crowd who now see it as pantomime to boo him as they know he will react. It affects his game and it will affect him tonight when the Australian player Simon Whitlock gets more support than he does as an English player. I think Simon is great value at 17/10 to beat Wade. Whitlock got much closer to Taylor than any other player and showed a great consistency that left handed players like Wade seem to struggle with. I would back Whitlock to win this match at 17/10.
My recommended bets for tonight would be a £10 bet on Phil Taylor at 4/25 and Simon Whitlock at 17/10 in a double and two £10 single bets on the draw for the other two matches. Your total returns on the Taylor/Whitlock double would be, including your stake, £81.00, which I think is a great bet. The draw bets would, in turn, return £45 including your stake. A speculative accumulator at £10 of all four selections would return a meaty £634.23 (which is why I advocate the single and double bets).
Enjoy the Premier League Darts betting for this week and look out for the tips for next weeks matches.
