Formula 1 Sports Betting

The Formula 1 championships have been a regular feature of my sports calendar for as long as I can remember. I recall the active suspension on the cars of the 1993 championship season and great races between Alain Prost, Gerhard Berger, Nigel Mansell, the late Ayrton Senna and the long reign of Michael Schumacher with the long running British interest in Damon Hill. The technological research that goes on behind the scenes helps drive forward innovation in motor technology but for the sports betting fans, we just love the betting opportunities that the markets offer! Bwin.com offers a whole section of Formula 1 betting opportunities with over 150 different bets you can choose from.

Jenson Button has always been the man who never quite fulfilled his potential in Formula 1 after such a promising start nearly 10 years ago. Finally he has the car to match his talent and has powered to a strong lead in the championships. He has odds of 1.75 to win the World Championships for the first time in his career. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are priced at 4.00 and 4.25 respectively to overtake Jenson and win the title. The next driver in the betting market is last years champion Lewis Hamilton at 33.00. The outright market has been unfortunately affected by the quick start by Button. He has not won a race in recent weeks but at 1.75 this may be worth a bet for those favourite backers that like to lump on a likely winner and his car is strong enough to win the championships.

The outright winner of the constructors championship offers interesting selections. It looks to be a straight fight between Brawn and the Red Bull team. You can back Red Bull at odds of 1.40 and Brawn at 2.72. Rubens Barrichello has not performed as well as Button so has dragged the teams odds out to 2.72. Vettel and Webber are doing well chasing down Jenson Button and are therefore the favourites to get enough points to take the constructors championship. As Button is heavy favourite for the individual championship if you choose to back Brawn to win the constructors title you must be sure Barrichello will improve his performances.

You can also bet on the winners of each qualifying heat, the driver who will win pole position and of course the winner of the race itself! For those of you who follow the live races the various bets you can place on a variety of betting opportunities will help enhance the viewing of the qualifying part of the race weekend and throughout the race. There is also in running betting available. Check the site at race time for more information.

As with golf match betting Bwin.com also offer odds on the head to head contests between the drivers of each team. Most teams now publicly feul the inter team rivalry to try and spur the drivers on to their best possible performance in the races. Most of the teams have a clear favourite but this a fun way to bet especially if you follow a lower team this gives you the opportunity to rail your favourite team even if they have no chance of winning the race.

Bwin.com have over 150 betting opportunities on any race weekend which is a great selection and variety for a single sport. For instance you can bet on how many cars will be classified for each team at the end of the race either one, two or no cars. You can also get odds on whether or not each racing driver will finish the race and be classified.

Enjoy betting on Formula 1 and let’s hope the rest of the season has exciting and competitive races that we can bet on and enjoy watching.
