Champions League – My best pick
Its time for Champions League again and this is the second round of the group stage. As usual the games are divided up in two days.
On Thursday its group E – H and Wednesday of course A – D.
In this text I am going to give you my analyze from the four matches in group E and F and present the odds from these matches. Some of the matches are valuable bets and the in the others I will just share my thoughts and maybe you can have my input when you make your own choice of bets.
Group E
Debreceni 7.25 Draw 4.00 Olympique Lyon 1.40

Rubin Kazan 5.25 Draw 3.50 Inter Milan 1.60

Make sure to note that Rubin Kazan vs Inter Milan is starting early (18.30) as the games often do when they are played in eastern part in Russia.
My best pick from these matches:
Fiorentina vs Liverpool, away win @ 1.75
Seen to the last few years it has been more and more clear that the gap is increasing between Italian top clubs and English top clubs is. And I am not even sure if Fiorentina should be counted as a top club in Italy.
Okay, they finished fourth last year and should be able to fight for that position this year as well. But their gap to Inter Milan and Juventus is really big. And even though Milan have started badly I am pretty sure that they will start winning soon as well.
Fiorentina are pretty strong home at Stadio Artemio Franchi. Normally they even have a really strong offence with Gilardinho and Mutu. But unfortunately for the Italian side Gilardinho is suspended today after the red card against Lyon in the last round. That means that Fiorentina either have to change their formation and play with only one attacker today or replace “Gila” with someone else.
Liverpool has a strange ability to win a lot of matches in Champions League. And after a bad start of the season they have started to win there as well. Fernando Torres showed that his form is on up going after have scoring three goals against Hull in their last match in Premier League.
My feeling is that Liverpool is the strongest side in this match and even thought they don’t “have to win” I think that they will break down this Italian wall.
They have a strong squad for today’s game and the best players will of course play if they are fit for fight. Here is their squad:
Peppe Reina (Cavalieri) – Johnson, Skrtel, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Aurelio, Insua, Lucas, Spearing, Plessis, Kuyt, Gerrard, Voronin, Torres, Babel, Riera, Benayoun.
I really give Liverpool a big chance to win today and that’s why I pick them as winners today.
Analyses from the rest of the matches:
Debreceni vs Olympic Lyon
Lyon is of course big favourites to win this match and I am not very surprised over the odds. And my feeling is that Lyon will win this game in Hungary.
They have way more experience then Debreceni and way better squad as well. But I would not bet on them for 1.40 in odds. Debreceni have their chances home and will probably take some points in this group stage. And it’s often in the beginning of the tourney that teams like this have their biggest chance to surprise.
Rubin Kazan vs Inter Milan
Just like Lyon even Inter Milan is big favourites to win away against Rubin Kazan. Not just as big, but still to big to bet on according to me.
The Russian teams have becoming stronger and stronger the last years and even though Kazan won the Russian league, they still have a long way left to compare with the best teams in Europe.
But as I wrote they are coming stronger and home in Russia, in front of their fanatic fans, they can defiantly give the Italian champions a tough match. Even though I think that Inter Milan have god chances to win this away game I choose not to bet to 1.60 in odds.
Fc Barcelona – Dynamo Kiev
Fc Barcelona is really going strong in the Spanish league and has won all games so far (just like Real Madrid). They are not only winning but even crushing their opponents and it’s just a matter of time until Barcelona and Real Madrid are way ahead the other teams.
Dynamo Kiev has some quality in their squad and play football in a smart way after their recourses. I think that Andrei Shevshenko means a lot for the Ukrainian team. But today a just cant se them threat Barcelona on Camp Nou. Really sure that Barcelona will win, but once again the odds are way too adjusted.
