BDO World Darts Betting Tips

The BDO Darts Championships are the second version of the Darts World Championships to be contested. The BDO is the version of Darts that is linked to the network of Darts from the Pubs to the county teams. Whilst the PDC has more money, is backed by Matchroom sports and features the best players in the world the BDO championships offers good Darts also. Simon Whitlock played in the BDO version of the game until 2008 and made the final of the PDC World Championships this year so despite the BDO darts being considered as the second tier, you can still bet on bet on darts knowing you are wagering on professional standard players.

The final set of last 16 matches is taking place to see who joins Ted Hankey, Tony O’Shea, Robert Wagner and Dave Chisnall in the quarter finals. Here are my betting tips for the matches to be played tonight at the Lakeside and are available to watch live by pressing red if you have sky digital television.

Paul Carter 2.30 versus Martin Phillips 1.55

Martin Phillips is the favourite at 1.55 after beating Dave Prins 3-0 in the first round. Paul Carter beat Martin Atkins 3-1. Neither participants are expected to get any further than the quarter finals so my tips is to follow the betting here and bet on Phillips. Both players were unseeded for the tournament.

Daryl Gurney 3.25 versus Martin Adams 1.29

Daryl beat Scott Mitchell in a tight first round match coming out a 3-2 winner. Wolfie looked very good in his first round match and can be fully expected to advance in this match. It will be a real upset of Daryl were to beat him. I fully expect a classic Scott Waites versus Martin Adams semi-final further in the tournament. Martin’s odds to win this darts match are low, but his chances of winning are high making the odds fair in my opinion.

John Henderson 4.50 versus Scott Waites 1.16

Henderson made his way to the second round by beating Mareno Michels 3-2 in the first round. He now faces the tournament favourite Scott Waites in the last 16. Scott made his way to the second round by beating Paul Hanvidge 3-0. It is very likely Scott will win this match. This is not much of a tip but the odds reflect his chances. If you like betting on heavy favourites then this should be a straight forward, albeit small win for you.

Martin McCloskey 1.75 versus Garry Thompson 1.95

This could be the tie of the round with both participants at similar odds. The winner plays the winner of Adams/Gurney and in his career McCloskey has beaten Adams in 1999. Thompson earned automatic qualification into the tournament and could be the dark horse to win this match. This is my outsider tip in the draw, Garry Thompson to win at odds of 1.95. This should be a great darts match if both players nerves hold up under the pressure of the last 16 of the World Darts Championships.

For all of the above matches there is betting available on who will win the first set of the respective matches and which doubles will be used for certain legs and other special bets. Visit bwin to see what is on offer for the matches.

The obvious favourites for the outright market betting is Scott Waites at 3.75 and Tony O’Shea, last years runner-up at 4.00. Martin “Wolfie” Adams is always a threat at 4.50 making a record seventeenth appearance at the championships this year. David Chisnall is a good outside bet because of his excellent wins against Daryl Fitton and Tony West to make it through to the quarter finals. His odds to win the championships are currently 6.50 and these odds will shrink fast if he wins his quarter final match.
