17th – 19th October 2009 Premiership Football Betting Tips

Football betting fans will be pleased that the Premiership football is returning this weekend and we can once again bet on it. The fixtures offer up the usual likely one sided matches and competitive matches for us to bet on, with good matches right through Saturday, Sunday and the usual match on Monday. Using the bwin.com odds, here are my top matches and tips for the weekend games.

Aston Villa 4.10 Draw 3.55 Chelsea 1.80

Our early kick off match on Saturday at 1.45pm looks like yet another value Away bet. I am a big fan of value and you get that in abundance from betting on favourites away. The top sides always do well both home and away each season and Chelsea is my tip for the title this season. Lampard and Terry are fit and playing well which is 90% of the reason to bet on them! Aston Villa does not have great form losing to Blackburn 2-1 and drawing with Manchester City 1-1 in their last two matches. You could argue that they did well to draw with City, but when you consider Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-0 after stumbling to defeat against Wigan and they have a two point lead at the top of the table it is now their title to lose. Despite a setback they look the best team in the league, so I tip Chelsea to win.

Manchester United 1.25 Draw 5.25 Bolton Wanderers 11.00

This interesting match is worth a quick mention regarding an interesting statistic between these two teams. Bolton has beaten Manchester United twice at Old Trafford in the past and with Manchester stuttering with Ronaldo and still adjusting a small bet on the draw for those more speculative sports bettors could be excused. Man Utd should win this game however, and I would back them in accumulator bets for the victory.

Stoke City 2.15 Draw 3.20 West Ham Utd 3.30

The bookmakers never give very low odds to the weaker sides at home expecting either defeats or draws. But Stoke are 11th in the league table which is higher than they were expected to be, and West Ham are stuck in 19th place, looking to be one of the relegation candidates at this point. Stoke managed a draw with Everton away which is always difficult in their last match whilst West Ham were lucky to draw against Fulham and lost their previous three matches before that. This all points to a Stoke win and at odds against 2.15 this looks a good bet.

Sunderland 5.00 Draw 3.60 Liverpool 1.65

Although Liverpool have good odds of 1.65 in this game I must consider the excellent form of Sunderland so far, with Darren Bent on the fringes of an England call-up because of his consistent scoring. Sunderland were so unlucky not to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford, and I think the draw is a good bet here. Liverpool lost to a quality Chelsea side but romped home 6-0 against a struggling Hull. Sunderland are easier to beat than Chelsea, but with doubts over the match fitness of Gerrard and Torres leading into this game I feel the draw is the correct bet at 3.60.

Sunday: Wigan 5.00 Draw 3.50 Manchester City 1.65

Craig Bellamy looked like he may be forced to leave Man City because of the excessive spending on players like Roque Santa Cruz and Emanuel Adebayor but he has shown a new level of maturity and poise in front of goal forcing himself into the first team. Bellamy scored against Aston Villa to ensure they gained a point and they will be eager to build on the 16 points they currently hold, which is 5 points behind the leaders Chelsea. Wigan are in 12th place and lost to Hull in their last match. This is worrying for them as Hull has really been struggling and they look a real candidate for relegation this season. Chelsea should win here, at decent odds of 1.65.

There is plenty of away team value to be taken advantage of this weekend. A good bet may be the Treble between Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool, which I will be having a flutter on! Good luck with your football betting this weekend.
